According to media reports on Oct. 11, Montenegro’s prime minister-designate Milojko Spajic is close to creating a new government of Montenegro, including Spajic’s movement “Europe Now”, Aleksa Becic’s Democrats, the Socialist People’s Party and minority parties, with a minority support provided by the coalition For the Future of Montenegro, which had brought together political groups included in the former Democratic Front.

BETA received a confirmation that Spajic had asked the coalition to support his minority government, offering in return the leading post in the Parliament of Montenegro and positions in public enterprises and institutions.

It’s the latest twist at Spaic’s negotiating table after two months of unsuccessful talks. The United States and the European Union’s officials have strongly criticized the idea to let the coalition led by Andrija Mandic and Milan Knezevic into the new cabinet. On the other hand, the move would secure 49 out of 41 votes required for its inauguration.
