EU Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak announced on Oct. 29 that he will soon be inviting the lead negotiators of Serbia and Kosovo to Brussels to discuss “next steps” and “advanc[ing] the implementation” of the Agreement on the Path to Normalization.
The promised meeting will follow talks which Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albian Kurti had with the leaders of France, Germany, Italy and the EU, on the margins of last week’s European Council session in Brussels.
“I welcome that both leaders showed readiness to implement the Agreement, although they could not agree on the modalities,” Lajcak wrote on Facebook in his usual weekly summary.
He added that the leaders of both sides in the dialogue had questions and comments regarding Europe’s proposed statute for establishing an Association of Serb Municipalities in Kosovo, which foreign envoys had presented during a joint mission on Oct. 21.
Lajcak expressed his hope that the coming weeks will “clarify open questions and concerns.”
