Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic on Nov. 28 said that Belgrade demanded from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to fulfil the tasks mandated under its Mission in Kosovo and Metohija and ensure that all local Serbs could exercise their internationally guaranteed rights.

“Based on the information available to us, there is room for optimism that the OSCE will overcome the institutional crisis it has been experiencing, and that this important international instrument would be used for improving security of our countries, and thereby of the sense of security of our citizens,” Dacic told the Nov. 28 issue of Belgrade daily Politika.

Dacic also said that the OSCE Mission in Kosovo was very important, considering the difficult position of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, which had been exposed to “severe forms of institutionalized and religious discrimination, threats to their security and uncertainty of their economic survival.”
