The director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, met on Jan. 15 with a former judge, Danica Marinkovic, who on Jan. 15, 1999 conducted a crime scene investigation in the village of Racak, where 25 people were killed, and “despite many pressures, bravely shared with the world the truth based on expertise and evidence,” the Office reported in a press release.

Petkovic thanked the judge for having persevered in her fight for the truth, justice and freedom, adding that it was her professional and thorough investigation that helped establish the solid facts about the events in Racak, and that “her evidence will be legacy for the generations to come,” the Office went on to say in the release.

“The facts Danica Marinkovic preserved for the future ward off any attempt at fabricating the Racak events, which served as a desultory justification and motive for an illegal aggression by part of the international community against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia,” Petkovic underlined.

Judge Danica Marinkovic noted that it’s never too late to fight for the truth.

“It is my greatest satisfaction that my colleagues and I collected evidence and established the truth that no one can take away from us,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija quoted Marinkovic as saying in the release.
