Rejecting their seats in Parliament over claims of electoral fraud would be pointless because the opposition needs to represent more than 900,000 people who voted for them in the Dec. 17 elections, Green-Left Front official Svetislav Kostic told the Jan 18 edition of the Vreme weekly.
Refusing to join the National Assembly would only make sense if it were coupled with “complete civil disobedience,” said Kostic, who is also a professor at the Belgrade University School of Law.
“We have to stop going to work and must block every segment of society because otherwise there’s no point. Such energy is currently absent among the people and is currently not possible, so all calls [to withdraw from Parliament] are completely pointless and speak of political illiteracy,” Kostic concluded.
