Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans' and Social Issues Nikola Selakovic said on Jan. 18 that he was not concerned with political offices, after reports that he was a candidate for parliament's new speaker.
He said on Happy TV that the opposition could not hope to gain power by appearing before citizens with hatred and destructive intent. "The world's and Europe's great leaders respect our president (Aleksandar) Vucic and the policy that he leads. The problem that those who are contesting the results of elections is that when they were in power no one talked to them in that way, they were given orders. The struggle for an independent and sovereign Serbia must never stop," Selakovic said.
Commenting on accident at the Trayal factory in Krusevac in which an 18-year-old youth lost his life, Selakovic said that Serbia's goal was zero tolerance for work injuries with a lethal outcome. "Last year 25 percent less injuries at work with a lethal outcome were registered. Work inspectors are also working preventively and not just when something happens," Selakovic.
