New Democratic Party presidency member Milos Stankovic said on Jan. 25 that in the event of a repeat of Belgrade elections the minimum condition for the opposition's participation would be purging voter rolls and the freedom of the media.
Stankovic told Euronews Srbija that the New Democratic Party of Serbia was discussing further steps with representatives of the Serbia Against Violence coalition and that a possible alternative would be clearly defined in the event that elections were repeated or were not in the capital Belgrade.
"If the minimum conditions of updating voter rolls and an acceptable amount of freedom of the media are not met a boycott might ensue. This definitely not be a passive boycott but a proactive situation and we will definitely not sit at home and wait for the elections to end," Stankovic added.
He said that there were fundamental program differences with the Serbia Against Violence coalition but that it was important to stress that these program differences were not as stark as they were on the republic level.
