Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that he will send a letter on Feb. 5 to the top officials of all members of the European Union and the Security Council of the United Nations pointing to the violations of international law and escalatory moves made by the Kosovo government during Albin Kurti's tenure as premier.
In an address to the public in Belgrade on Feb. 2, Vucic said that Serbia's representative to the U.N. would file a written motion for an urgent Security Council session on the situation in Kosovo. Vucic said he had finished writing letters "with an almost identical structure as far as Kosovo goes, but each is personalized" to send to the representatives of all EU members and institutions, and to the presidents and prime ministers of all Security Council members, including Russia and China.
"We have informed Russia and China how grave our concerns are about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija during internal consultations. I will sign the letter as the president of the Republic. It is the longest and hardest letter I have signed since I have been at the helm of Serbia," Vucic said.
He said his letters outlined "every act of violating" international legal norms, "some of Pristina's escalatory actions over the last two and a half years and Serbia's demands from the international community, in line with the U.N. Charter and other effective documents of international law."
