Citizens in North Kosovo should not be falling for calls to resist the Kosovo police and should dismiss them as provocations and a set-up, the Serb Ticket party said in a written statement in the evening on Feb. 12.
The release came out in response to leaflets distributed across Kosovska Mitrovica, encouraging people “to resist [Kosovo Premier] Albin Kurti’s police” and signed by an unknown organization calling itself “People’s Defense,”
“We are asking our fellow citizens to stay calm as such actions, regardless of their executors, are directed against peace and are ill-intentioned, only looking to further destabilize the situation and, in case of possible new incidents, blame it all on the Serbs,” the party said in the release.
They added that some had the obvious intention of having the Serbs pictured as violent people and shifting away from the pressure they had been experiencing for their oppression of the Serbs.
