Belgrade Assembly: PKB Corporation Shares Transferred to Republic

According to political analysts, the Serbian Progressive Party may have the majority to form Belgrade’s new city assembly, although it seems uncertain this will happen at the constitutive session scheduled for Feb. 19.

Talking to the Blic daily, the executive director of the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CESID), Bojan Klacar, said that the Progressive party has the majority in the Belgrade City Assembly but that after the defection of its leading candidate, Aleksandar Jerkovic, caused a rift within the We – The Voice of the People movement led by Dr. Branimir Nestorovic, the decision to form the new government with such narrow majority has not yet been made.

Political scientist Cvijetin Milojevic believes the only solution in this situation, given the latest developments and heightened tensions in Serbia’s capital, would be to repeat the elections.

According to analyst Nikola Parun, the ruling party has no reason to fear the new elections and that it would hardly get fewer votes than it had in the last round.
