Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Feb. 18 that he expected new pressure on Serbia to introduce sanctions against Russia, but that that was not possible.
Commenting on the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny for Prva TV, he said it was a spark into a burning flame and that it was tragic when a young man lost his life. "I have no doubt that our position will be even harder," Vucic said.
In the West, like on the other side, an approach of taking sides is being taken, there are increasingly fewer arguments being made, how to beat the enemy, and there is no longer-term view of the future, he said.
The European Union lost ten percent of its popularity after adopting its resolution on Serbia. According to Vucic, 24 percent of people now support EU membership, while 26 percent are against. Commenting on the Serbian opposition in the context of the recently adopted European resolution, he said great damage had been done to Serbia due to their witch hunt.
