The current authorities have the duty to prove their commitment to improving voting conditions regardless of whether it plans to hold elections in June or in the fall, Green-Left Front MP and co-president Radomir Lazovic said on April 3.

“I expect a clear answer from them today not only on the date and simultaneous holding of the elections but also on whether they can adopt the ODIHR recommendations in time so that the changes have an effect on the currently horrific electoral conditions,” Lazovic told the latest edition of the Danas daily.

According to him, the opposition has agreed on a single set of demands and will discuss later what to do in the event that election negotiations with the regime fall through.

Following the April 1 session of the new National Assembly’s Collegium, Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic stated that the opposition’s demand for the capital’s election to take place concurrently with other local elections is unacceptable, but that the demands regarding the electoral roll and media have, for the most part, been accepted.

The National Assembly Collegium reconvenes on April 3 to continue the election talks between the regime and the opposition.
