If the opposition had any chance of winning the Belgrade election there would be no talk of boycott or electoral conditions, Socialist Party of Serbia leader Ivica Dacic said on April 11.
“We’d prefer if they didn’t boycott the election. Then again, it’s their decision to make about their own political future… Every time someone boycotted [elections], they later concluded that they were wrong,” Dacic told Pink TV
He added that the oppositional Serbia Against Violence coalition includes a variety of political organizations which are now criticizing Freedom and Justice Party head Dragan Djilas’s authoritarian attitude. In Dacic’s opinion, Djilas’s caucus has no room for anyone with a different opinion.
Addressing the opposition’s demand for the adoption of a lex specialis, Dacic stated that the doctrine is rarely employed and that caving to said request would pave the way to anyone demanding a new lex specialis on whim.
