A member of the Presidency of the Freedom and Justice Party, MP Branko Miljus, said on April 17 that Serbia was experiencing a deep political crisis, adding that the fact that Serbia’s new cabinet was not in place 120 days after the December polls had only confirmed that.

Miljus said that the only way to rectify the situation was “a change of government,” but that it’s very unlikely to happen in elections, “which have lost their purpose.”

“It is therefore necessary to adopt immediately the ODIHR recommendations and demands posed by the opposition and the non-governmental sector, because it’s the only way to handle the political crisis, the magnitude of which is best illustrated by the fact that 120 days after elections Serbia does not have a government yet, the National Assembly and provincial parliaments do not sit, and Belgrade is run by Aleksandar Sapic, even though Belgraders have said twice they don’t want him,” Miljus said.
