Opposition MP Djordje Vukadinovic asked on June 27 that Serbian officials state clearly what would be compensation enough to recognize Kosovo and Metohija's independence.
At a Q&A session in Parliament, Vukadinovic said that Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic's statement on June 24 that, "Serbia cannot recognize the independence of Kosovo in the entire territory" was disputable.
Vukadinovic recalled that even Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had said that "it is the wish of many for Serbia to recognize Kosovo's independence and not get anything in return."
These statements boil down to "we will not recognize Kosovo's independence if we do not get something in return," Vukadinovic said, adding that "Serbia is offering and begging for something that is not a compromise but a painful and humiliating solution that is unconstitutional."
The opposition MP warned that "the way that this proposal is being talked about degrades Serbia's already bad position."
Vukadinovic, therefore, asked Serbian officials what would be enough to make them ready to recognize Kosovo's independence.
As a member of the Movement for the Salvation of Serbia - New Serbia caucus, Vukadinovic is one of the few MPs close to the Alliance for Serbia who has stopped boycotting parliament.
