Ivan Vejvoda, European Project director and permanent researcher at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna, has said that a special mediator may be needed to broker the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue on a daily basis, noting though that it will be the leaders who will eventually reach a settlement acceptable to both sides.
“We know that this issue will be resolved eventually, the question is how a settlement will be reached. I do not think that there is an issue that has not already been on the table. I see the recent agreement between North Macedonia and Greece as a positive example. At some point, leaders were those who made decisions, regardless of how big the differences were,” Vejvoda said in an interview with Belgrade weekly NIN.
He also said that the international community, primarily the EU, should help Belgrade and Pristina to reach concrete solutions necessary for achieving a final settlement.
