On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, Movement of Free Citizens leader Sergej Trifunovic said that it was genocide, adding that July 11 should be devoted to the victims and serve as a reminder of a dark historic period which should never reoccur.
“It is why on this day, I once again wish to pay tributes to the victims of the genocide, because it was genocide, as defined by the United Nations - a crime under international law committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group,” Trifunovic stressed.
He noted that people who now declared themselves patriots often, under the guise of patriotism, defended the darkest decades in history, instead of governing their country and working toward a better life of all citizens. “We will be fine once there is regional peace and when all in this region stop perceiving an entire nation though the acts of individuals who were evildoers,” Trifunovic said.
