Cadez Pleas with EU to Allow Serbia to join Green Corridors Transport System

Serbian Chamber of Commerce and western Balkan chamber investment forum president Marko Cadez has sent a plea to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen requesting that the Western Balkans be included in the EU's so-called "green corridors" system which facilitates and speeds up the delivery of goods, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce announced on March 26.

"This would enable companies from our region to deliver goods, medicine, medical equipment but also raw materials for manufacturing and finished goods for export,  faster and more easily," Cadez said in a statement.

Letters with requests for support and overcoming the problems that Western Balkan countries face in the transport of goods during the pandemic, were sent to Phil Hogan and Oliver Varhelyi, the European commissioners for trade and enlargement.

To expedite the transport of all products which has slowed down substantially since border and population protection measures have been placed in effect, the EU is slashing the amount of paperwork required and introduced so-called "green corridors" as an instrument to help reduce kilometer-long columns of trucks. The system slashes maximum waiting times to 15 minutes in the EU.
