Scott: U.S. drawing no red line for Kosovo solutions

U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott has said that Washington was not drawing any red lines regarding the Kosovo resolution, noting that the key for both Belgrade and Pristina was to resume the dialogue.

"We are not drawing any red lines, we are not defining what will happen, if what they agree means stability for the region, if it can be implemented and be sustainable, then we will probably back it. But we are waiting for the two sides to achieve an agreement under the auspices of the EU," Ambassador Scott told the March 6 issue of the Belgrade daily Kurir.

According to him, new U.S. official in charge of the Balkans Philip Reeker does not have a plan for Kosovo in his pocket, nor will he force anyone to do anything.

Ambassador Scott also said that import tariffs on goods coming from Serbia imposed by Pristina were counterproductive and were not beneficial to the resumption of the dialogue.

"We request Kosovo to suspend the tariffs for a period that will facilitate the resumption of the dialogue. We hope that they will act accordingly," the ambassador said.

He reiterated the position of U.S.President Donald Trump that an agreement on mutual recognition should be the essence of a settlement on the normalization of the relations between Serbia and Kosovo
