On June 1 Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Tunis received a total of EUR460 million from a EU macroeconomic aid package.
The European Commission has said that it has disbursed the aid to these four countries out of a EUR3 billion package. The package was adopted by the EU in May 2020 to help ten of its partner states in the enlargement process and neighborhood recover from the pandemic's economic impact.
Tunis will receive EUR300 million in aid, Kosovo EUR50 million, Montenegro EUR30 million and North Macedonia EUR80 million.
The EC said that Kosovo had met the conditions for receiving the aid, including the adoption of measures to enhance the sustainability of public finance, improve financial stability, strengthen good governance and the struggle against corruption, as well as an initiative for boosting youth employment. The conditions were also met by Montenegro and North Macedonia.
