Mercator Group is planning revenue worth EUR2.3bn and EBITDA in the amount of EUR110m in 2020, the management of the Slovenian retail chain stated on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange on Dec. 12.

The sum is bigger than the announcement for this year, in which Mercator expects to see revenue of EUR2.1bn and EBITDA worth EUR91m.

Next year, Mercator also plans to continue paying its debts and investing EUR44m, more than half of it in Slovenia, SEEbiz reports. Activities are to continue on the construction of a large logistics and distribution center in Ljubljana, which is slated for completion by the end of 2021, the Mercator reps underscored.

The retailer also said that the Slovenian government's trustee in the Mercator management, Gregor Planteu, had found no irregularities in Mercator's operations from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, in the sense of the company financially exhausting itself, and that in the observed period the company did business in line with the so-called Lex Mercator, which the government enacted in 2017 in order to protect national interests in the company.
