Marija Obradovic (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)

An Uncompromising Party Activist

Serbia’s new minister of state administration and local self-rule Marija Obradovic is a typical representative of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party’s younger members, a front lines activist known for her harsh, populistically-intoned attacks on opponents of the ruling bloc and especially those who criticize Aleksandar Vucic.

She belongs to a circle of politicians who conspicuously enjoy Vucic’s favor and trust. Given that she is rather young, she is believed to have a bright political future ahead of her as long as the party’s leader and most powerful man on the Serbian political scene stays in power.
