Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin urged the member of the European Parliament, Tanja Fajon, not to "hinder" Serbia, assessing that this would represent "great help" from her.

In an interview to the March 26 issue of the Danas daily, Fajon stated that the corona virus was not an excuse for "locking up" democracy and that no government should be allowed to assume unlimited power.

Vulin responded that Serbia had expected Fajon to address the European Parliament with a request for Serbia to be equalized with EU member countries, regarding the scope and volume of aid, the Defense Ministry has stated.

"Instead, the rapporteur for Serbia, a Slovenian MEP, held us a lecture about democracy and explained why we must not manage our own borders," Vulin said.

"If nobody listens to Mrs. Fajon in the EU and if she cannot help us, we would be grateful if she were not to hinder us – even that would be great help from her," Vulin stated.
