Over the past seven years the citizens of Serbia, including party officials, provided donations worth nearly RSD1.5 billion for leading political parties, the Democratic Party, the Socialist Party of Serbia and the Serbian Progressive Party, the Center for Investigative Journalism (CINS) reported on May 25.
The Center specified on its website (cins.rs) that half the amount, RSD764 million, went to the Serbian Progressives, most of it in 2017, when presidential elections took place in Serbia.
Close to RSD215 million were collected in underdeveloped or devastated parts of the state, as presented in the parties' annual financial reports analyzed by the CINS.
The parties received more than RSD182 million from legal persons. Most of the RSD1.5 billion that were donated to the Democrats, Socialists and Progressives from 2012 to the end of 2018 came from Belgrade donors - nearly a third (RSD451 million).
