One person died from the consequences of the coronavirus infection in Serbia in the past 24 hours, while 102 newly infected were registered, it was announced on the covid19.rs web-site on Sept. 16.

The total number of fatalities is 736, while 32,613 cases of the disease have been confirmed since the start of the epidemic. There are 341 people currently being treated in hospitals, 23 on ventilators.

Epidemiologist Predrag Kon stated on Sept. 16 that a new measure could be implemented, envisaging that citizens report to the health system when they return from abroad, and that it would have long-term effects, especially in the forthcoming period with the start of the patron saints' celebrations and the winter holidays.

Kon said that a way would be devised for those returning to be able to report with the least possible inconvenience, for them as well as for the medical staff, with some of the possibilities being to register electronically, telephone a call-center or going to a covid infirmary, which he referred to as the option that should be avoided whenever possible.
