Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and China's Minister of Defense Wei Fenghe discussed on March 26 the development of cooperation and readiness to strengthen a comprehensive strategic partnership between Serbia and China, the Presidency of Serbia has reported.

President Vucic said that Minister Wei's visit "is yet another confirmation of the two states' iron friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership." Serbia and its competent departments are prepared to work with China and the Chinese Ministry of National Defense to develop all aspects of the bilateral relationship, especially with regard to military-economic, military-medical and military-educational ties, the president said.

The president and the minister agreed that one of the important features of the strong bilateral relationship was Serbia's role in a cooperation mechanism between China and the Central and Eastern European states, as well as the Belt and Road Initiative.

Minister Wei also met with his Serbian counterpart, Nebojsa Stefanovic. They laid wreaths at a memorial outside the former Chinese embassy building in Belgrade, bombed during NATO air strikes in 1999.
