On May 12, a new shipment of 120,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Serbia, as part of the COVAX mechanism.

The airplane carrying the coronavirus vaccine shipment landed at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport at around 8 a.m., public service RTS reported.

Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar, Head of the WHO Country Office in Serbia Marijan Ivanusa and UNICEF Representative in Serbia Deyana Kostadinova welcomed the shipment at the airport.

Epidemiologist Predrag Kon on May 12 called on citizens, especially younger ones, to get vaccinated against the coronavirus and thereby demonstrate their social responsibility.

Kon told Pink TV this in Grocka, just outside Belgrade, which is the location of the so-called vaccination bus on May 12. "That call and this bus are here to approach the people, but this is primarily a call to youth," said Kon.
