Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic talked in Belgrade on June 10 with French Chief of Defense Staff Francois Lecointre about strengthening cooperation in the area of defense, Vucic’s office said in a press release.

Vucic and Gen. Lecointre discussed the strengthening of military economic and military technical cooperation, as well as the enhancement of cooperation in joint training, including operations under the auspices of the European Union.

“Serbia sees France as a reliable partner in the field of military technical and military economic cooperation, which it also confirms through the numerous contracts that have been concluded in the previous period,” Vucic said and underscored that partnership and cooperation in that area was of strategic interest for both countries.

Vucic went on to say that France’s support on Serbia’s European path was very important and added that Serbia had accepted the new methodology in the accession negotiations, as well as that he expected the results achieved to be adequately valorized through the opening of new negotiation chapters.

During his visit to Belgrade, Lecointre also met with Minister of Defense Nebojsa Stefanovic.
