Twenty-Eight People Die of COVID-19 in Serbia, 5,003 Newly Infected

In the last 24 hours, 28 people have died of COVID-19 in Serbia, which raises the death toll of the epidemic to 7,548, a Sept. 12 post on the covid19.rs website said.

A total of 5,003 new cases were registered out of 16,098 tested samples while 2,780 patients have been hospitalized with the disease, 138 of whom are on ventilators.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic in Serbia, there have been 816,912 confirmed cases, while 5,241,284 persons have been tested.

Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic said on Sept. 12 that the measures against COVID "are clear and precise" and that the problem was one of observance, adding that "very stringent" oversight of their implementation was needed.
