A total of 45 more people have died of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours while 8,467 new cases have been registered, the Serbian Ministry of Health announced on Sept. 28.

During this time 26,292 people were tested. Another 6,155 have been hospitalized while 251 patients are on ventilators. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, 8,142 people have died while 926,269 contracted the disease.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said in Belgrade on Sept. 28 that "everything is ready for COVID passes but talks are still being led on whether we should go ahead with this."

"COVID passes are not a silver, magic bullet for solving the situation. COVID passes are just a way to somehow motivate young people to get vaccinated, nothing more than that. The only response to all of this is vaccination," Brnabic said.
