The control of covid passes will begin on Oct. 23 and, as of Oct. 25, so will the sanctioning of physical persons and legal entities who violate the measure, the Serbian government has stated.

"All the inspection organs will be on the ground during the weekend, to check how the system works in practice, together with the business owners. This decision was made to give additional time to business owners to find the best and most efficient solutions to organize for controlling the covid certificates," the statement reads.

"The purpose of the introduction of covid passes is solely the protection of health of the population of the Republic of Serbia, and not the financial sanctioning of the citizens. Thus, the Serbian government hopes that the citizens and businesses will behave responsibly, in view of the fact that the decision on the control of covid passes and financial sanctioning will not be delayed further," the government said.

At its session, the government decided for the covid pass to also be valid in the form of a Digital Green Certificate and a positive anti-body test (IgG), not older than three months, performed in a laboratory in public ownership, which proves a sufficient degree of protection for persons who have recovered from covid.
