On July 1, epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic said that the Serbian government will consider re-introducing safety measures should a new variant of the coronavirus emerge. At present, however, “only the Omicron subvariant” is active, he said.

According to him, the number of infected is on the rise but there is no cause for concern since hospitals are not overcrowded. Still, sensitive groups should exercise caution.

Tiodorovic expressed his belief that the daily number of newly infected COVID patients will not surpass 2,000.

He also advised people to get their third or fourth COVID vaccine, underlining that such prevention will be most beneficial to the elderly and those suffering from chronic illnesses.
