On Aug. 24, the leadership of the Serbian Progressive Party will be sitting down to decide on Serbia’s new prime minister and new Cabinet.

As candidates for prime minister, President Aleksandar Vucic has mentioned current Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Novi Sad Mayor Milos Vucevic. However, the president did not exclude the possibility of other nominees.

In a statement given on Aug. 23, Vucevic confirmed that both he and Brnabic are being considered for the position, but added that anyone from the Progressives’ leadership could nominate another candidate, as could the party’s potential coalition partners.

According to Vucevic, the Progressives will hold talks on the composition of the new Cabinet and a coalition with the Socialist Party of Serbia and United Serbia.

Vucevic further stated that several options were considered for the new government body, but that all of them would include minority representation.
