There was no country in Europe where a caretaker government had been performing governmental duties and functions for eight months, and therefore the Serbian Progressive Party should return the mandate to the president of the Republic of Serbia as it was obviously unable to form a new cabinet, the Serbian Movement Dveri leader, Bosko Obradovic, said on Sept. 27.
Obradovic also said it was incomprehensible that the ruling Serbian Progressive Party had not been able to form a new government for months following the elections.
“Such procrastination in forming a cabinet in such complex geopolitical and economic circumstances is not only a mockery of the state, democracy and institutions, but it also jeopardizes normal functioning of the system,” Obradovic stressed.
He added that another problem faced by democracy in Serbia “is a travesty of normal functioning and work of the Serbian parliament,” explaining that the regular autumn sitting was scheduled to start on the first working day in October, while there had been no information yet on when it would begin.
