Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s announcement that the Serb barricades in north Kosovo will be removed at all costs represents “a blanket threat to Serbs, foremost to those living in Kosovo and Metohija, and a threat to Serbia as well,” said Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vucevic in a Dec. 21 statement for the RTS public service.

In the 12 days since the roadblocks were erected, there have been “no physical contact and no attacks on the Serb community,” the minister said, adding that the Serbs of north Kosovo are “fighting for their human rights and freedom in a democratic way.”

Vucevic emphasized that Serbia will do “everything it can” to overcome the crisis.
