Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated on May 18 that subsidies for farmers would be increased, i.e. that their realistic demands would be fulfilled, in accordance with the state’s possibilities.

He told reporters in Novi Sad that he had met with representatives of associations of milk producers who, in his words, sought help and had realistic demands and were not resorting to blackmail. “We are looking at how to help the farmers, small private owners and not tycoons. We have always been open for talks, but I will not talk with professional demonstrators,” Vucic said.

“This is excellent news for the ordinary farmers. The budget for agriculture will rise to 900 million euros with these higher subsidies,” Vucic said.
