Twenty-eight-year-old U.V. from Leposavic was taken into custody by plain-clothes police officers in the morning of June 19, as he was going to work, the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija has announced.

“This is not some criminal but rather a 28-year-old young man who was peacefully on his way to work, knowing he was guilty of nothing,” the statement said, adding that one of the vehicles used in the arrest had a Kosovska Mitrovica license plate.

The Office labeled the arrest a continuation of abuse of Kosovo Serbs by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who “is using any and every means to incite a conflict with the peaceful Serbian people.”

The press release maintains that “Kurti has been arresting Serbs daily, without any proof, while the international community turns a blind eye and pretends not to notice that all the basic human rights of Serbs are being violated and that the Serbian people in Kosovo are being subject to physical, legal and institutional violence every day.”

The Kosovo Police Force previously announced that U.V. was arrested in Leposavic on suspicion of involvement in the June 16 attack on journalists in northern Kosovo.
