In a Feb. 6 evening statement, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic announced that a “political declaration on Vojvodina within Serbia” will be passed mid-February.

“A day or two” before or after the country’s Feb. 15 Statehood Day, or perhaps on the holiday itself, the regime will organize a “sizable” gathering and pass a “special declaration on Vojvodina within Serbia” the president said in an interview for the RTS public service, offering no further details.

Vucic went on to say that the National Assembly should recognize the resignations of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and his Cabinet by Feb. 17 or 18, starting the 30-day legal countdown for the formation of a new government. Should that not occur by March 19 or 20, Vucic said, a snap election will be called for early May.

According to the president, it would be good to try and form “a good Cabinet” from the current convocation of Parliament because “it is very important” for the country – as well as for the Expo 2027 specialized exposition, which Belgrade is scheduled to host in two years.
