Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic has said that 95 percent of migrants in Serbia come from Bulgaria and North Macedonia and that police will step up efforts in this zone as well as that a base will soon be created in Presevo, the Interior Ministry said on Nov. 30.

During a tour of police in the regional border police center toward Bulgaria, he said that police would take enduring actions in the field to curb irregular migrations and arrest people smugglers.

“Members of the Interior Ministry are in this way seriously protecting state territory and citizens and will take all steps to stop irregular migrants from crossing into our country. We will stay in this area, but also in the north of the country until we fully solve this problem,” Gasic was quoted as saying by the ministry.
