Ivica Dacic, head of the Bureau for the Coordination of Security Services, said on Dec. 25 after a session of that agency that the security situation was stable and that the state would not allow a violent overthrow of order, and called for order and peace, and solving all problems through the responsible institutions.

According to him, he spoke with the heads of security services and prosecutors about protesters' attempt to enter the City of Belgrade Assembly violently.

"We condemned yesterday's act of violent entry into institutions in the severest terms," Dacic said, stressing that the protest was not a political one, but an attempt to seize authority violently, Belgrade media outlets reported.

Dacic said the response of state agencies was restrained and urged the responsible authorities to punish participants in the riots in the way the law defines.

He added that the state would not allow any violence, especially toward state institutions and official representatives of the state, because those are severe crimes.
