A member of Serbian parliament from the Green-Left Front, Radomir Lazovic, announced on Feb. 21 that a delegation of the Serbia Against Violence coalition would travel to Brussels on Feb. 26 to meet with European officials and discuss the establishing of responsibility for the “election rigging” on Dec. 17.

Lazovic told TV N1 that, besides Brussels, the delegation would also visit Paris next week and meet with representatives of the French government and parliament, and of the Elysee Palace.

“We are hoping for a successful series of meetings, not only with the representatives of the European Commission. We are demanding an ad-hoc mission, as well as a broader one, because it is important to establish who is responsible for the election rigging. We have information about how everything took place, but we want someone to bear the responsibility,” stated the Green-Left MP. He announced that some of the EU member countries could pass resolutions about the elections in Serbia with contents similar to those of the European Parliament’s resolution.

He dismissed the Serbian authorities’ view about their addressing the European institutions regarding the elections in Serbia being equal to the “undermining of sovereignty” of the country. “The issue here is the brutal theft and the fact that our institutions do not work. I would prefer if we could address (the organs in Serbia) we are supposed to address and for that to be the end of it. The Constitutional Court could annul the elections, the police could respond to our calls, the courts and prosecution could do their job, but they do not and that is easy to prove,” Lazovic stated.
