Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has said that President Aleksandar Vucic did not downgrade the Serbian Parliament by saying in the evening on March 10 that its constitutive session would not resume in the morning on March 11, but in a week’s time.

Speaking to TV Pink, Brnabic said that the statement had not humbled the parliament, explaining that Vuvic had only “said what would happen.”

“I do not see that he has personally delayed the session. He said what he is entitled to by presidential powers granted under the Constitution,” according to Brnabic, Serbian Progressive Party’s candidate for Serbian parliament speaker.

In the evening on March 10, Vucic said that the local elections in Belgrade would be held on June 2, which is the deadline for organizing repeat voting, due to which the Serbian Parliament’s constitutive session would be pushed back, which has triggered criticism from the opposition ranks.
