The Central Electoral Commission of Kosovo has confirmed that members of municipal electoral commissions in northern Kosovo from the Serb List have resigned.

The Central Electoral Commission appointed the Serb List officials on March 18. Voting on relieving ethnic Albanian heads of the municipalities of Mitrovica North, Leposavic, Zubin Potok and Zvecan is scheduled for April 21.

On April 8, the Serb List criticized the work of international representatives, like German Ambassador to Pristina Joern Rohde, saying they had done nothing to help the Serb people and supported the anti-Serb regime of Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti, whose ultimate goal is ethnically cleansing Kosovo of all Serbs, the Serb List said.

"We recall that Serbs were ready to take part in the process of removing the false mayors in good faith, which they showed by signing the petition in record time and in higher numbers than needed, but Albin Kurti designed a procedure for the referendum that is impossible and not implementable, with the sole purpose of keeping the false mayors in their offices," the Serb List said in a press release.

Ambassador Rohde said the Serb List's stance against a referendum to decide on removing the heads of four northern Kosovo municipalities was concerning and described the party's approach as disturbing.

The U.S. embassy in Pristina expressed regret over the Serb List's decision and the expectation that the government of Kosovo be "sensitive" to all concerns of citizens in northern Kosovo during "this process."
