Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that he expects a change in the U.S. policy on Kosovo, albeit not a major one, after Donald Trump takes office as president on Jan. 20.
"I do not think [the U.S. policy on Kosovo] will change much, but I hope it will change. I believe that will be possible," Vucic told public broadcaster RTS.
Vucic said that Serbia "has many friends" in Trump's Republican administration, "many more" than in the outgoing administration of Democrat Joseph Biden.
He announced that by March 31 next year citizens would be able to see specific moves and the toughest crackdown on corruption, which would encompass those who were part of the government.
On the subject of the ongoing student protests, Vucic said that young people had an energy and enthusiasm that should be respected.
"They have shown that they are smarter than those who impose their political tricks on them," said the Serbian president.
