Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Tomas Szunyog, has urged the Kosovo authorities to lift a ban imposed earlier on imports from Serbia as soon as possible, underlining that the European development plan promoted progress and the free movement of people and goods.
Speaking at a conference of the European Investors Council (EIC) in Pristina, he stated that partners in the region could benefit greatly from the EU development plan, but that there would be additional conditions for Pristina and Belgrade, so that they would engage constructively, and with measurable progress and tangible results, in the normalization of their relations.
"In this regard, the free movement of goods, services and labor is greatly represented in the development plan. Therefore, we encourage Kosovo to lift the ban on Serbian products as soon as possible," the EU official said.
The Government of Kosovo imposed a ban on the importation of Serbian goods on June 14, 2023, citing security reasons.
