Two international and two local organizations have been granted permission to observe elections in Novi Sad.

The portal 021.rs reported on May 29 that the City Electoral Commission had permitted the EU Delegation to Serbia and the Election Observation Mission appointed by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) to observe the work of the bodies conducting June 2 elections for the City Assembly of Novi Sad.

In addition to these two international organizations, permissions to monitor the work of the City Electoral Commission and polling boards have been granted to the Progressive Vojvodina Action and the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID), which are now the two authorized national observers.

The City Electoral Commission has rejected requests to be accredited as poll watchers by two local non-governmental organizations, Get Going for Change and the Association "Be a Hero."

In its decision to refuse to grant the status of a national observer to these organizations, the City Electoral Commission explained that as active election participants they had already appointed their representatives to polling boards across Novi Sad.
