Vucic: Presidential Election in Late December at Earliest or Early in February 2027 at Latest

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on July 26 that presidential elections in Serbia will take place late in December, at the earliest, or by early February 2027, at the latest.

"It's only logical -- if the parliamentary [elections] are in October, it's possible for the presidential [elections] to be held from late December to early January, and if they [parliamentary elections] are in November, then it [the presidential election] will certainly be in January or maybe early February at the latest," Vucic told Prva TV.

He announced earlier that he plans to run for prime minister in the parliamentary elections, which he said could take place in October or November, and that he will step down as president by then. As for parliamentary elections, he said the ruling majority's ticket will be "younger by far" than the student movement ticket, and that he is going to be one of the older candidates on it.

"I am proud to be on that ticket, under whatever number they put me down -- 250, 72, one, three, five... It's all the same to me," Vucic said, adding that he will recognize any election outcome.
