The governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska (RS) will at a joint session as part of the Pan-Serbian Assembly on June 8 adopt a Declaration on the protection of national and political rights and shared future of the Serbian people, Serbian Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Nemanja Starovic announced on June 7.
In a statement for public broadcaster RTS, Starovic said the Declaration would rest on the Dayton Accords and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which Serbia respected, and that it would be adopted because there was a need for deepening cooperation after the recent international pressure on the Serbian people and RS.
The declaration is Belgrade's and Banjaluka's political response of sorts to the recent adoption of the U.N. Resolution on genocide in Srebrenica.
Starovic explained that the Pan-Serbian Assembly was an event that would "show and prove the unity of the Serbian people on both sides of the Drina River."
"That unity is directed at a common future, rather than against someone else," stressed Starovic.
