U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien said on June 27 that Serbia and Kosovo needed to commit themselves again to solving problems within an EU-sponsored dialogue.
He said this after separate meetings in Brussels on June 26 with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti with EU high representative Josep Borrell and EU special envoy for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina Miroslav Lajcak.
A planned high-level meeting between the three sides was not held, Borrell said, because the Kosovo side was not ready for the meeting and named three conditions for that.
"This shows that the parties must again commit themselves to solving problems and looking for possibilities within the EU-sponsored dialogue, O'Brien wrote on X, saying that "not applying previous agreements is truly a lost opportunity for both sides."
