Speaking before the Republika Srpska (RS) Assembly in Banjaluka on July 9, Serbian Parliament speaker Ana Brnabic said that Belgrade was deeply committed to cooperation in the region for to ensure peace and stability.
She also said that the Declaration adopted at the All-Serb Assembly in Belgrade, which had already been ratified by the RS Assembly, was a call for peace, respect of all victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina and expression of full respect for the Dayton Peace Accords.
“On the day of the All-Serb Assembly we rejoiced our unity, while leaving all political differences aside and celebrating the bonds between us,” Brnabic said. The Declaration “does not insult any other nation nor does it violate territorial integrity of any other country,” she stressed. Brnabic also said that the Declaration would shortly be ratified by the Serbian Parliament, noting that other parts of the document related to safeguarding the Serbian language, tradition and culture.
Brnabic went on to say that over the past decade, Serbia, led by Aleksandar Vucic, had invested a large amount of money in interconnecting the region and that Belgrade “has always stood by its neighbors, although some countries in the region have not recognized Serbia’s territorial integrity, while we have acknowledged theirs.” She added that Serbs had no one closer than Bosniaks, stressing that one of Belgrade goals was reconciliation with Albanians.
Brnabic also said she was pleading for only two things – respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement, meaning two entities and three constituent peoples and inviolability of RS, and secondly, respect of the Serbs regardless of where they lived.
